Chastain Park 4th of July Parade

The first annual Chastain Park 4th of July Random 500 Yard Walk Parade was this morning. We met up with Mary’s brother’s family and decorated bikes, trikes and strollers. And by that, Messrs. Strunk and White, I mean we literally met up with decorated bikes, trikes and strollers.

Olivia managed to crash her trike in the first 3 minutes—Mary got it on tape. Schweet. Piper slept the whole time. A good time was had by all.

Starving Artist Sale

Well, hungry artist sale. But she just ate an entire bag of cookies nutritious vegetables. How can she be hungry?!?

Included are two recently recovered works—long thought lost to the ages—from Olivia’s Whoa is Me period, circa February 2008.

Updating Content

We’re going to be randomly adding “old” content to the site over the next few days weeks months years.

We’re still tweaking the layout and navigation, so consider this beta at best. And for the love of Buddha, please don’t point out that the CSS and markup are all wonky—I am still learning the ins-and-outs of Tumblr. At least I finally got the bitchin search script from John Resig working. Cool beans.

Fun at Home

As always, gracias to Clare for the pics. She seems to possess the unique ability to highlight both thinning hair and double chins.

Meatballs is a Good Movie

Olivia started camp this week. Schweet. And camp means art. Lots and lots of art. Lots and lots, I say.

Virginia Highland Summerfest 2008

Ooof. Freaking hot. Still, there’s nothing like spending 45 minutes in 90 degree heat finding an illegal parking spot so you can watch your daughter run 25 feet with fifty other 2 years olds. Good times.

Piper’s First Bath

She looks pretty much exactly like Olivia in her first bath, albeit without the deer-in-headlights effect and the foam back thing. Tub looks the same, too, but it’s not. In keeping with China’s strict one-child-per-family policy, we gave the first one away when Olivia outgrew it. After Mary informed we that we didn’t live in China and could have a second kid, we had to buy a new one.

The Millians Make Number Two

Please welcome Piper Elizabeth Millians, born 10:59am EST, May 8, 2008. She’s 8 lbs 15 oz and 21 3/4” long. She likes long walks on the beach, men who aren’t afraid to cry and tightly wrapped hospital blankets.

Mother and baby are doing fine. Dad needs some sleep. Olivia is adjusting remarkably well to her new little sister, but then again, she hasn’t met Piper and has no clue what’s happening.

Olivia Conquers The Beast

The St. Croix Half Iron was this weekend. Olivia totally cleaned up in her age group. She was a little slow out of the water, but really picked up on the bike. Well, trike. Anywho, The Beast had nothing on her. Unfortunately, those bastards refused to grant spots at Kona for the 0-3 female crowd, so she’ll have to make it on the lottery.

Poochie Millians, R.I.P.

We had to put Poochie, our Yorkie, down today. He was diagnosed over the weekend with sudden congestive heart failure, and there was little they could do to help him, given his age (assumed to be 18).

We have had Poochie since January 2002, when our friends Charlie and Malinda Coulter rescued him and gave him to us to take care of—at the time, he was in pretty bad shape, but he pulled through and lived a happy 6 more years.

Happy Easter

Hippity. Hoppity. Easter’s on it’s way. Olivia and her cousins hunted for eggs. Olivia ripped the hem out of her dress. But don’t tell Clare. She’ll totally freak. About the dress, I mean. She’s probably cool with the egg thing. But you never know, so ixnay on the eggsway. Just to be safe. Hell, just ignore this post.

Olivia Turns 365. Days.

Olivia’s first birthday. Lots of mess cleanup fun. Two parties, actually. One for the tykes. One for the adults. Two cakes to boot. I think they had a BOGO or something on existing inventory. Anywho, luckily they both said Olivia’s 1st Birthday on them. What are the odds?!? Probably would have been more amusing if we had used Wal-Mart for the cakes, though.

Olivia’s First Bath

Nothing says “I love you, Mom and Dad” quite like the look of sheer terror from one’s first bath post hospital. Giant yellow sponge back support only adds to the effect.

And Baby Makes Three…Very Tired People

Please give a warm welcome to our newest addition: Olivia Porter Millians.

She was born Friday, September 23rd at 2:10pm EST (via planned C-section). Both baby and Mary are doing fine. Photo below—patented Hospital Cam angle. Take *that* Letterman!

Chubby cheeks, ailing arms, wiggling legs, copious drool—the whole nine yards. She’s a cutie. Olivia as well.

Vital stats: 7 lbs. 9 oz., 20 3/4” long, excellent lungs—future opera star, it appears.
